Some of you know about my obsession with musicals (if you don’t: I’m obsessed with musicals, and the passion is almost as longstanding as my love for the redbirds, and is the major reason I live in New York City rather than St. Louis). I’m listening to the cast recording of a great new show called “Spring Awakening” right now (seriously, go see this show - I’ve seen it three times already, so you have some catching up to do!). And hearing the songs out of context of the show for the first time, one of the lyrics made me smile just now:

The stars, too, they tell of spring returning
And summer with another wind that no one yet has known

I’m pretty sure that in the play, Melchior isn’t talking about baseball, but I don’t care. I’m already excited about next season! I also don’t care about the failure to sign any good free agents, because I’ve decided that the next year is going to be a Cardinal victory lap. I’m already excited thinking about how much fun next season’s going to be, and how often I’m going to wear my World Series Champion T-shirt, and how many surprises the season will contain. Let’s hear it for the summer wind we don’t yet know!
